    Bike insurance.

Its a long weekend, so no point in ringing around for quotes. My insurance is due next week. I've been with Shannon's for a few years, but suspect there are better deals around. They want $470 fully comp for a bike valued at $13k. Am I paying too much? Any good deals out there I should know about?

A rellie who's in the insurance caper says most people make the mistake of treating their insurance renewal as a bill.

It's not, it's actually an invitation.

Ring around every year, insurer's give a low quote to get you on board, then jack up the premiums each year.
In theory, there's no difference between theory and reality.
    But in reality, there is.

Shannons delivered. They dropped the price by $28, and quoted me $140 less than I was paying, and better cover, for the GTI. This was previously with RAC. (All other quotes were higher.)

The downside is that I now have 6 tickets in Shannons prize which includes 3 weeks in the US, with a Chev Camaro convertible. And a Ferrari test drive. And an Indian Scout. The stuff of nightmares, except the Ferrari.
